Homeopathy is the second most widely used system of medicine in the world. It is a a very safe, easy and effective method of treatment for all kinds of ailments.
There is a big difference between homeopathy and herbal medicine. Homeopathy uses microscopic amounts of a remedy prepared in a very safe way. Anyone with a homeopathic book or the internet can safely use homeopathic preparations.
Herbal medicine uses different parts of a whole plant that needs to be prescribed by a knowledgeable and trained herbalist to insure it is used safely.
One of the most common, and one of my favorite homeopathic remedies is Arnica Montana. I always carry it around with me. It has been used since the 1500’s. It can be applied topically as a cream or salve or taken internally in a pill or tincture form. It is often the first remedy that you would reach for when you have have bruised, strained or sprained something.
I often use Homeopathy in my Acupuncture practice as the first line of defense with children, elderly and immune-compromised patients. I am very conservative with my homeopathy, herbs and treatment in general. I come from a school of thought where less is better.
